Introduction: The aim was to investigate the efficacy and safety of percutaneous nephroscopy combined with thulium laser cyst decortication for the treatment of simple renal cysts. Methods: A total of 64 patients with simple renal cysts treated at Yongchuan Hospital, Chongqing Medical University, from January 2021 to March 2024, were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, with 32 patients in each group. The experimental group underwent percutaneous nephroscopy combined with thulium laser cyst decortication, while the control group underwent conventional laparoscopic cyst decortication. General conditions, operation time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores, perioperative biochemical indicators, drainage tube retention time, and hospital stay were recorded in both groups. Results: There were no statistical differences in general conditions between the two groups. The experimental group had a shorter operation time, postoperative drainage tube retention time, and hospital stay compared to the control group. The experimental group also had less intraoperative bleeding, lower postoperative VAS scores, and lower C-reactive protein levels, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in preoperative and postoperative serum creatinine, plasma osmolarity, white blood cell count, and postoperative complications between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Percutaneous nephroscopy combined with thulium laser cyst decortication is a minimally invasive, effective, and safe method for treating simple renal cysts, offering advantages such as shorter operation time, less bleeding, and faster recovery.
