Abstract
The authors report a case involving a 2-year-old male with congenital meningomyelocele treated for urinary incontinence. An operation reducing the spinal defect is performed and the child is subsequently treated both medically and by sacral faradisation for urinary incontinence. Enuresis is well controlled after nearly 2 years. At 4 years of age, epidural infiltrations are begun, and there is improvement of the heretofore persistant diurnal urinary incontinence. At 9 years of age, the problem of urinary incontinence is well controlled; the child very rarely has bouts of poor bladder control. A complete urological examination permits the visualization of a morphologically normal urinary system. The child occasionally has episodes of spontaneous erections of the penis.
