Zum Auftreten von Komplikationen nach Kontrastmittelinjektionen wird hinsichtlich ihrer Entstehung die allergische und toxische Genese diskutiert. Die Ansichten über die Durchführung einer Vortestung vor der Injektion des Kontrastmittels werden dargelegt. Verf. berichtet über 30000 intravenöse Pyelogramme, bei denen zwei schwere Kontrastmittelzwischenfälle mit gutem Ausgang beobachtet wurden. Er spricht sich nicht für eine Vortestung aus, da diese keine verbindliche Auskunft über eine zu erwartende Überempfindlichkeitsreaktion geben kann. Dagegen wird die Unter-weisung sowohl des ärztlichen Personals als auch des Hilfspersonals für unbedingt erforderlich erachtet, damit jede mögliche Überempfindlichkeitsreaktion erkannt und die notwendigen Maβnahmen zu ihrer Behandlung sofort eingeleitet werden können. Die Zusammenstellung eines Notfallbesteckes und ein kurzer Therapieplan werden mitgeteilt.
