Es stellt sich die Frage, ob und inwiefern eine durch elektrische Detrusorkontraktion ausgelöste Miktion der physíologíschen vergleichbar ist. Das rein muskelmechanische Verhalten des Detrusors gegenüber Veränderungen des Blasenvolumens und des Ausgangswiderstandes scheint unverändert zu sein. Die obligate akzidentelle Mitreizung des Beckenbodens führt zu einer Steigerung des Austreibungswiderstandes, ein konstanter Faktor, der für die unvollständige Miktion mit Resturinbildung nicht allein verantwortlich gemacht werden kann. Durch Ausfall der Koordination innerhalb des Detrusors kommt es jedoch zum vorzeitigen Verschluβ des Blasenhalses mit Unterbruch der Miktion und Übergang der isotonischen Kontraktion in eine isometrische. Dieses durch einfache Nervendurchtrennung nicht lösbare Problem dürfte einer der Hauptgründe des bishcrigen Versagens des Blasenstimulators in der klinischen Anwendung sein.
