Es werden die Beziehungen zwischen Urin-β-Glucuronidase und Blasentumor untersucht. Die Hypothese, wonacb der Entstehung eines Blasentumors ein Anstieg der β-Glucuronidase-Aktivität im Urin vorausgeht und dadurch exogen zugeführte oder endogen entstandene Carcinogen-Glucuronide entkoppelt werden, was zur Induktion des Malignoms führen soil, wird auf Grund von Untersuchungen bei carcinogen-exponierten Farbstoffarbeitern entkräftet. Im weitern wird gezeigt, wie die Urin-β-Glucuronidase der Präsenz eines Blasentumors parallel geht, d. h. mit dem Auftreten eines Blasentumors kann in der Regel eine erhöhte β- Glucuronidase-Aktivität nachgewiesen werden, welche sich nach Entfernung des Tumors wieder normalisiert, eine Beobachtung, welche dafür spricht, daβ dieses Ferment aus dem Tumor selber stammt. Schlieβlich wird nachgewiesen, daβ die gesteigerte β-Glucuronidase-Aktivität nicht nur beim Blasentumor gefunden werden kann, und daβ sie somit infolge der mangelnden Spezifizität nur bedingt zur Diagnostik des Blasentumors herangezogen werden kann.
